About Drone Camp

July 16-19, 2024
Drop-off: 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Pick-up: 4 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: The camp will be held on the St. Mary’s University campus.
Cost: Free and lunch is included ($574 scholarships for each camper are sponsored by the Title V BEST grant)
Pre-requisite: No drone piloting experience is required. Basic computer skills and hand-eye coordination activities (sports, video games, art) are strongly preferred.

Drone Piloting Camp Description
This is a four-day camp at St. Mary’s University, focusing on introductory concepts of drone technologies and drone pilot operations. The camp is offered to high school students (ages 14-18) from Tuesday, July 14, to to Friday, July 19, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the camp, students will learn essential drone operation and design concepts. Campers will also cover topics for different exam certifications, such as the FAA TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test), while learning piloting skills such as pre-flight checklists, airspace regulations and weather conditions. The camp is free, and lunch and snacks will be provided.
